Great Trains and Grand Canyons May 15-20, 2005

Join us for a Great Trains and Great Canyons adventure in Arizona. Learn more about the great canyons of our nation by rail. Set among the red-hued rocks of Oak Creek Canyon, your home for five nights is the Hilton Sedona Resort. Your journey includes first-class train rides aboard the Grand Canyon Railway and the Wilderness Train. Visit the south rim and other points of the Grand Canyon. Explore Sedona on a trolley tour and learn about the rock formation, vegetation and history of this area. Visit the Spanish–Mexican village of Tlaquepaque, known for its art. Explore Montezuma Castle National Monument, which contains ruins of cliff dwellings built during the 12th and 13th centuries by Sinagua Indians. Board the Wilderness Train for a spectacular ride through the Verde Canyon, an area only accessible by rail. Experience a farewell dinner at the Blazin’ M Ranch, complete with a chuckwagon supper and western stage show.
Detailed Itinerary
Day One—Arrive Phoenix, AZ
Arrive in Phoenix, Arizona. Meet your travel director and travel to Sedona. Set among the red-hued rocks of Oak Creek Canyon, your home for the next five nights is the Hilton Sedona Resort. Tonight enjoy a welcome dinner. (D)

Day Two—Grand Canyon
Drive through the Oak Creek Canyon to Williams to begin your journey aboard the Grand Canyon Railway in a first class railcar. Spend time at the awe-inspiring south rim and other points of interests in Grand Canyon National Park. Six million years in the making, dynamic colors and textures inspire reflection at nature’s power and beauty. Have dinner in Flagstaff before returning to Sedona. (B,L)
Day Three—Sedona
Start the day with a Sedona Trolley Tour. The trolley guide will give you insight into the various rock formations, indigenous vegetation and history of this remarkable area. Later visit uptown Sedona and the Spanish-Mexican village of Tlaquepaque, an area full of art galleries. Or enjoy an optional guided Jeep tour into the Sedona backcountry. (B)
Day Four—Montezuma Castle/Jerome/Verde Canyon Train
Start the day with a visit to Montezuma Castle National Monument which contains ruins of a cliff dwelling building the 12th and 13th centuries by Sinagua Indians. Later visit the old mining town of Jerome, once a virtual ghost town, now restored with museums and art galleries. Next travel to Clarkdale to board the Wilderness Train for a spectacular ride through the Verde Canyon, an area only accessible by rail. (B)
Day Five—Blazin’ M Ranch
Today is free for independent pursuits or take advantage of an optional tour. This evening, experience a farewell dinner at the Blazin’ M Ranch, where you will enjoy a hearty chuckwagon supper and western stage show. (B, D)
Day Six—Scottsdale/Phoenix/Home
This morning travel to Old Town Scottsdale where western storefronts recreate an aura of the past. Later return to Phoenix for your flight home.

Tour Cost
- $1,399 per person, double occupancy
Deposit/Final Payment: A $300 per person deposit is required to confirm your reservation; final payment is due to Premier World Tours 75 days prior to departure. Credit cards are accepted. Deposit checks should be payable to Premier World Tours Trust. Completed reservation form and deposit should be sent to aggieAdventures Travel Program, Cal Aggie Alumni Association, University of California, One Shields Avenue, Davis, CA 95616-8517.
Cancellations and Refunds: Cancellations for all or any part of the trip will not be effective until they are received in writing in the offices of Gohagan & Company. Should you have to cancel, the following terms will apply: reservations are fully refundable from the time of booking up to and including 120 days prior to departure; cancellations received from 75 through 119 days prior to departure are subject to a $30 per person cancellation fee; from 30 through 74 days prior to departure 25% of the total price will be charged; from 15 through 29 days prior to departure 50% of the total price will be charged; and cancellations received 14 days or less prior to departure, no-shows or early returns from the trip will result in forfeiture of 100% of the total price. Trip cancellation insurance is strongly recommended!
